Introducing the Charlestown Courier

Hello Charlestown! To many of you, the name “Charlestown Courier” is a blast from the past. Our local newspaper from December 1940 to February of 1986, the Courier served our community for many years – we’ll delve into its history in a story to come.

The new Charlestown Courier is a local publication for the internet era. We’ve adopted this name as an homage – local history is so important to our community, and we wanted to offer a nod to that while bringing you something new. Our focus will be on Charlestown, and occasionally offer news from other ends of the county. As the Leader closes its doors, we are sad to see it go and want to offer our gratitude to its publishers and staff for its long standing and truly irreplaceable service to our community.

In introducing our new online content, we hope to carry the torch to some small extent by offering our neighbors a place to find local information they can rely on when they need it. We’re committed to keeping our content free, and any advertising or sponsored content will help to cover production costs.

Send us your news, announcements, events, and press releases. We’d also love to hear your story ideas – guest writers are welcome, including opinion or letter to the editor pieces. You can submit information via our website form, or by email to
