Rose Island Playhouse to hold auditions for Death and Taxes


AUDITION NOTICE – “Death and Taxes”

Rose Island Community Theater will hold AUDITIONS for Pat Cook’s hilarious comedy Death and Taxes on Saturday, July 21 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Charlestown Public Library at 51 Clark Road in Charlestown, Indiana. If you are unable to attend auditions on Saturday, the directors will be available Monday, July 23 between 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center at 999 Water Street, Charlestown. Auditions are cold readings from the script. Resumes and headshots welcome but not required. Appointment is not necessary.


5 Women: Kathleen Lyles, mayor of Hendricks; Lydia Kleft, secretary to the mayor; Mattie Johansen, Carl’s wife; Cora Sedgewick, the epitome of the nosy neighbor; and Evelyn Martindale, drama teacher with an eye for what’s correct and an ear for what’s not.

4 Men: Eddie King, editor of the Hendricks Herald; Wesley Thorne, the sheriff; Carl Johansen, a sarcastic citizen; and Dr. Efrem Bishop, a standard country doctor.

Synopsis: Ever wonder what goes on at a small- town city council meeting? In Hendricks, they’re looking for a murderer! Ms. Martindale, the local drama teacher, sets up the “scene of the crime” and soon it becomes apparent that everyone on the council had dealings of one sort or another with the victim. It looks like every one of them has something to hide!

The performances dates are September 21, 22, 23 28, 29 and 30, 2018. Rehearsals are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A read thru will be held on Thursday, August 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center.
