“We played against one of the stronger teams in our area tonight and it is typically difficult when playing against Henryville,” said Charlestown Head Coach Martinez. “Tonight, all of my players showed a lot of passion. They played hard and they played smart. Regardless of a few mistakes allowing Henryville to score, the Pirates worked it out. I changed up the formation a bit and I feel like it flowed well for the team. I am very happy with the performance during tonight’s game. ”

The first half ended with a 3-1 lead by Charlestown.  Moments into half time everyone was ordered off the field due to lightning in the area.  35 minutes later the game restarted.  The second half proved to be an extremely physical game with four yellow cards being handed out and several players being asked to leave the field to cool off.  Henryville was able to score a goal at the 24:25 mark which brought the score to 3-2.  Henryville made a drive with only seconds left in the match and was able to place the ball in the net but the goal was not counted due to an off sides call by the official against Henryville.

JV was scheduled to play directly after the varsity team, however the match was called due to lighting.

The team went on to play Corydon on Tuesday, with varsity winning 2-1. Goal by Pascula Gonzalez with an assist from Andrew Mattingly, a second goal by Ian Flora with an assist from Bryce Wray.
