Today Mayor Mike Moore and other officials helped break ground on the $4 million Jeffersonville Medical Center located in the quickly growing Jeffersonville Commons Shopping Center area just off East 10th Street.
The facility will consist of 12,000 square feet with River Ridge Surgical Suites occupying 7,400 square feet. The remaining space will be leased by other medical users.
“It’s another great day for Jeffersonville as we break ground on this Medical Center,” said Moore. “Over the past few years the city has made a significant investment in this area. It’s exciting to know that we invested wisely and its paying-off.”
River Ridge Surgical Suites plans to open this Fall when it employs between 12-12 ambulatory surgery center professionals with a combined salary of approximately $1 million per year.
“We continue to experience unprecedented growth and development in Jeffersonville,” said Moore. “Adding a medical facility helps us diversify our already booming local economy.”
Moore was also joined by representatives of Planet Fitness as they announced it will open an 18th Louisville-area location in the Jeffersonville Commons Shopping Center. The 25,000 square foot club is expected to open by Spring 2020.
“I’m thrilled that Jeffersonville has been chosen as the site a custom Planet Fitness club,” said Moore.
In the last seven years, more than 7,000 new jobs have been created in Jeffersonville. Along with those new jobs have been the development of the city’s east end after the opening of the Lewis and Clark Bridge such as a new Kroger Marketplace, Feeders Supply, Growlers USA and McAlisters Deli. There are also plans for a new Chick-Fil-A, hotels and movie theatre in the area.
