Five local students to compete at National Junior Olympics with Indiana Elite Run Club

Five local students from the Indiana Elite Run Club have qualified for the AAU National Junior Olympics in Greensboro, Ohio. The event takes place from July 24th through August 3rd at North Carolina A & T University.

Kameron Reed of Jonathan Jennings Elementary qualified for the 10 year-old 800 meter and 1500 meter races.

Trey Smith of Jonathan Jennings Elementary qualified for the 11 year-old 800 meter and 1500 meter races.

Will Conway of Charlestown Middle School qualified for the 14 year-old 1500 meter and 3000 meter races.

Jonathan O’Shea of Home School Union qualified for the 15-16 year-old 3000 meter race.

Ashton Still of Silver Creek High School qualified for the 17-18 year old 800 meter race.

Coach Solomon Bennett says he is excited to take this group to Nationals.  “I am extremely proud of these kids and how hard they have worked this summer,” he says. “They show up every day and give their training 100% and their effort is paying off. This is such a fun group to coach and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.”

The Indiana Elite Run Club is a local AAU track and field club open to area students. They began practice following the regular school track season and compete in events throughout the summer. For more information on the club, check out their Facebook page here.
