Abbott Jr: CHS Fall Sports Wrap-Up

David Abbott Jr

David Abbott Jr., CHS Asst. Athletic Director

The support this fall for our student athletes was the best I have seen since becoming your assistant athletic director. Attendance at all sports this fall was up from years past. I was amazed at the new faces and many students in the stands supporting our school. I know our athletes appreciate the support you have given them.

Some quick results from our fall sports are; The boys tennis team finished second in the Mid Southern Conference. Boys’ soccer got a win in the first round of sectionals but fell short in the semifinals to sectional champ Madison. Our cheerleaders do a fantastic job cheering on our pirates on Friday nights, they also competed in many competitions this fall, finishing fourth at State. Girls cross country broke a thirty two year drought and brought home a Mid Southern Conference title along with winning sectionals and regionals this year. Girl’s golf picked up a win over MSC opponent Clarksville. Volleyball has picked up wins over MSC schools Eastern, Austin and Clarksville but fell in the first round of sectionals against North Harrison. Football ended the season 8-3 beating an undefeated Brownstown in the first round of sectionals but fell short in the second round of sectionals against Lawrenceburg. Each fall sport had big seasons in the Mid Southern Conference.

The support and my work for our student athletes never ends as winter becomes closer brings boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, swimming and wrestling. The winter sports schedules can be found at http://piratepride.blue/wintersports/ . If you can’t make it to the events this winter you can listen to our student run radio station WPMQ on your radio at 99.3FM.

Thank you fans for your support in making this fall season a success.
