The Derby Dinner Playhouse production of ELF THE MUSICAL, opened on November 13th and runs through December 31, 2019. We caught the show on opening night and can say without a doubt that this production is an absolute must-see. If you’re looking for a sure-fire way to get yourself into the holiday spirit, look no further.

Derby Dinner’s production of Elf features a talented, high-energy cast of local favorites like J.R. Stuart, and Charlestown’s own Josiah Richardson.

David Hussey delights as Buddy the Elf. – he is perfect for this role and grows on you more and more through every scene.

This show will have you smiling and tapping your toes, and put even the biggest Grinch in touch with their inner child and the magic of Christmas. We left eager to go home and put up our tree.

The show is kid-friendly with only one instance of very mild and isolated PG language. Grade school children and over are sure to be as entertained as the adults in the audience by this fast-paced, energetic and very physically entertaining musical.

This musical adaptation of the beloved holiday film has all the humor and heart of the movie, but with added songs and holiday production numbers!  ELF is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole.  Buddy is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and his stepbrother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Derby Dinner’s production was directed by Lee Buckholz with musical direction by Scott Bradley and choreography by Heather Paige Folsom. Based upon the New Line Cinema film written by David Berenbaum, ELF THE MUSICAL was written by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin.
